Back in the States
After the hip hop show I showered, packed and took a taxi to the airport, flew through Heathrow, half asleep, and finally got on a plane to Boston around 10am. I don’t remember much of this since I was dozing off the entire time, but my staying up let me sleep for 6 hours on the way home, effectively killing a bad jet lag situation. I woke up, went through customs super quickly, and hopped...
Day 13
It’s the last day in Amsty, and it’s my birth date. It feels good, and I think this trip has gone as planned, enjoyable in every way.
I started the day at a lovely vegetarian restaurant close to the hotel and got the kitchen special - a sampling of all sorts of delicious veggie foods. I rolled on through the city and stopped at a cafe to strike up more conversation. I ended up...
Day 12
First things first, walked to a bike shop on the corner of my block and rented a sweet cruiser for 10 euro a day, which seems totally reasonable to me. I pumped up the tires, got some advice from the shop manager, and rolled out. Pretty quickly I almost got taken down by a tram rail, so I’ve been more careful about those things. I walked across the street to the Gare du Nord, hopped on my train, an am en route to Amsterdam.
Final France thoughts: it’s an amazing...
Day 10
Well, I was planning on shopping today, and Lesley and Tycen were game to go shopping as well. But, as we woke up to a cold, rainy day, all motivation dissipated. I loafed around and found myself some warm street food, only to retreat back to the flat and take a nap. I woke up and Lesley called a 2nd and 3rd time throughout the day, only to confirm the mutual decision that we were nice and warm...
Day 9
I embarked on an epic 6-hour tourist walk around Paris today. Saw some things, got lost, found my way, saw more things, was asked for directions several times (and actually helped a friendly couple with the maps on my phone because they asked how to get to the Eiffel), all on on a beautiful sunny day.
I should have headed straight south, which is what I thought I was doing, but ended up way the...
